FROM EXPOSED VOCALS:

Jenn Connor is a pop artist from Toronto, Canada. Her journey started in the small town of Caledonia, just outside of Toronto. It was there that Jenn began posting her original songs online. Bursting with innovation, catchy lyrics, and danceable beats, her work soon caught the attention of LA-based producer Tomas Costanza (Secondhand Serenade, Boys Like Girls, 2 Chainz). Jenn collaborated with Tomas on more songs, including Jenn’s Reverb Nation Top 40 hit “Girlfriend”, which she co-wrote with fellow artist Ashley Levy.

“Like I Did” by Jenn Connor

One recurring pattern we’ve noticed in breakup stories that guys share is that they are shocked at how (seemingly) fast their ex-girlfriend is able to move on.

Perhaps she started seeing someone else within days of your breakup, or she left you for another guy. Or maybe she just seems to be handling the whole breakup a lot better than you are. The question remains: how is she able to move on so fast? Jenn Connor details her said of a break-up in this hard hitting single “Like I Did” Let’s dig into it!

Emotionally, this song reallly turns up the heat with lyrics like:

“don’t text me or my friends / don’t text me pictures from the gym”

Her message is simple. Get over it. (Ouch!)

Overall, Jenn Connor has come up with a first rate piece of modern pop that effortlessly blends several genres and styles, which will work equally well on the radio abd he dancefloor. This is a single that will fit perfecftly in the current musical landscape of Tayler Swift, with mainstream pop – the pllsce where the innovations are being made. In short, it has massive hit written all over it. With an army of fans awaiting new material, she will undoubtedly make many ones with this single.

Score:
8.8/10

Exclusive Interview

Exposed Vocals: So tell us your story. What made you decide to become an
Artist?

Jenn: It has always been my dream to pursue a career in music. I actually grew up in a musical family. My mom is a talented actress and singer and was involved in musical theatre. My brothers play drums and guitar and are in a band together. My dad is an amazing lyricist. Music has always been a huge part of my life and I always knew that’s what I would end up doing.

Exposed Vocals: Everyone was a start-up once. Can you give any smaller or
local bands or artists looking for gigs or radio AirPlay any
Advice?

Jenn: To all of the artists and bands that are just starting out, the best advice I can give is to first stay true to who you are as a person and as an artist. Never pretend or let anyone force you to be someone you’re not. Secondly, when your music is out there, start making connections – collaborate and reach out to other artists. You never know who you’ll come across and the opportunities that’ll come your way. Last but not least, don’t ever give up. Those who persevere and believe in themselves will be successful. You can’t let negativity get to you.

Exposed Vocals: Do you ever make mistakes during performances! If so how
do you handle that?

Jenn: Oh for sure! Nobody’s perfect, there’s no such thing as a perfect performance. We all make mistakes. In regards to how to handle mistakes during a live performance, just keep going and don’t let it bother you. Knowing the audience is there to support you makes it that much easier to carry on.

Exposed Vocals: Do you tour? Anything interesting happen to you on tour that

Jenn: I do my best to perform as often as I can in and around the Greater Toronto Area. One night, before a show, I went to a karaoke venue and sang a few of my favourite songs. Everybody got up to dance and I ended up packing in about one hundred people very quickly. I later saw the same people at my show that night. They followed me there. It was pretty funny and awesome.

Exposed Vocals: Any planned studio upgrades? What are you working with
Now?

Jenn: I do a lot of home demos on my computer. Right now I’m using Logic Pro X. Once the demos are complete, I bring them to life by taking them into a studio in Toronto. The studios I go to are crazy. I’ve been fortunate enough to work in some of the best studios in the city. To have access to something like that is really incredible. Other times I will collaborate with a talented producer and we’ll get a team of people together and start working on a track in the studio.

Exposed Vocals: How do you find ways to promote your music? What works
best for you?

Jenn: To help fund my career, I teach piano and singing at a local music store. This is great for promotion because most of my students are pre-teens, teenagers and young adults. It’s a cool way to stay in touch with my fan base and it helps me with my creative direction. I think this works best for me. Aside from this, social media is also fantastic when it comes to promotion. I do everything I can – I post every day, I send messages, I make new friends. Everything helps and I’ve made some very close friends in the process.

Exposed Vocals: If you could perform anywhere with any artists dead or alive
who would it be, where and why?

Jenn: My favourite artist of all time will always be Michael Jackson. Michael was just unbelievable and will never be forgotten. He was an innovator and with all of his success he was always humble and went out of his way to help others. I would have given anything to perform with him. Regarding the venue, it has always been a dream of mine to sell out Madison Square Garden or Toronto’s Air Canada Centre.

Exposed Vocals: So what’s next? Any new upcoming projects that you want to
talk about?

Jenn: I have a lot to look forward to! I’m working on a new single right now. I’m hoping to release the \ song in late-spring or early-summer. Once that single is released, I’ll be doing a few shows in and around the GTA. I’m really excited! 2018 is going to be a busy, great year.

Exposed Vocals: What should your fans look forward to in the next year or so?

Jenn: In the next year, my fans can definitely look forward to new material and also more live performances. I have been doing a ton of writing and the songs that I plan on releasing are by far my best work to date. My latest release, Like I Did, was the first of these songs to be released. My team and I have been working very hard and we can’t wait to share the rest of the material.

Exposed Vocals: Any shoutouts?

Jenn: I’d like to give a shoutout to my mom, dad and two brothers, Tim and Paul. Thank you so much for always being there for me and for believing in me. Also, a big shoutout to my friends, fans, and followers. Your support means the world to me and I wouldn’t be here without you. Thank you so much.
